We are so grateful that the Pittsburgh trades live on. The new oven was built by local and visiting masons and steel fabricators. The process involved collaborations that connected community members and builders.
The Trade Institute of Pittsburgh built the foundation with funds raised through local bread sales. With 100% of bread sales going towards the cost of construction and ingredients, the community built the foundation of the oven in more ways than one. The dome was built by Wandrian Ovens (now Boreal Heat). The exterior was built by the Trade Institute and Shelton Masonry. The door system was built down the street by Wheaton and Son's.
